Industrial rock duo Heavy Halo have created a song celebrating (I really don’t know if celebrating is the right term here) in tribute of 90s computer viruses. And no we are not discussing Agent Smith from the much loved Matrix franchise and all that jazz. We’re talking about those viruses that had the power to rupture whole systems in corporations or even your own personal data straight out of a cyberpunk novella. Those such as Crucifixion, Fear, Ithaqua, Morphine, and Possessed. With this single comes a music video that is comprised entirely of those viruses infecting what would now be considered ancient machines and you can stream it right below.
Speaking on the single vocalist McKeever said: ‘Failure.’ is the heaviest and most severe song on Damaged Dream. It’s about how nihilism is a cognitive virus that spreads when your ideals shatter at the hands of cold reality. When you watch everyone you know suffer at various points in their lives you have to face the wreckage of your own innocence. So once that’s gone, what do you have left? Well there’s power and resilience in desperation and catharsis. For us, we’re just trying to write our way out of hell. Creating in spite of the void is its own victory.
‘Failure.’ comes off of Heavy Halo’s forthcoming album Damaged Dream which is due out on July 25th via Silent Pendulum Records and can be pre-ordered HERE.
