Industrial rockers Heavy Halo have released the third single ‘The Poisoning’ off their forthcoming album “Damaged Dream” on just about every platform that you can think of. We’ve covered them once, we’ve covered them twice, and by this you know that the dynamic duo McKeever and Gosteffects have something special in store for you – something melodic, vocally influenced by The Cure and the Smashing Pumpkins, yet keeping in mind modern heavyweights such as HEALTH and Poppy. You can stream the song below.
McKeever spoke on the single and stated: At night you’re kept awake haunted by memories of all your past selves and the various lives you’ve lived. You’re confronted with the strangeness of being in the current moment with all those ghosts in the rearview. ‘The Poisoning’ is about the compulsion to outrun these anxious thoughts and hyper-fixations through the ritual of escapist excess. Self-destruction never truly cures the existential angst but in the moment, you believe it just might.
McKeever continued to speak on the song and visualizer, stating that it was dedicated to a bunch of their fans with the Heavy Halo tattoo. Furthermore, he dedicated the video to Sian Austin who tragically past away last year. McKeever said that Austin “was an unreal musician of rare versatility and champion of DIY culture who lived his life ‘on the edge of the knife’ with a flame that burned like a supernova.”
“Damaged Dream” is currently available for pre-order HERE. You can also catch them live on January 9th in Ridgewood, NY at TV Eye The Ballroom. Get tickets HERE.
