Scene insiders Yuma Hampejs and Marcel Schulze have launched a book dedicated to the beloved subculture of EBM. It’s title is simple: Electronic Body Music. Both authors have succeeded in their goal of discussing EBM’s roots and history, as well as its historical and cultural impact on other genres such as techno and alternative electronic music.
Electronic Body Music is a massive undertaking. Hampejs and Schulze consulted over one-hundred-and-fifty global figures including artists, promoters, and DJs; gathered stories from thirty-two bands spanning seventeen countries referencing another nine-hundred bands; all the while keeping the book contained within eleven exploding chapters.
Electronic Body Music comes in a soft cover book measuring 170mm x 170mm (or around 6.7” squared for my fellow Americans), featuring a robust display of black-and-white imagery with design done by Tommy B-Kuhlmann. Editorial insights are done by Neil Gardner and an English translation is available from Johannes Stabel.
