The best way I can describe halicon is that it is an experimental electronic project that I have love for as he doesn’t veer into the insanely horrible, unproduced, tape-looping, no-talent side of the genre and actually attempts to make some kind of meditative art with his long ass tracks. I know, perhaps a bit of a long explanation, but genrewise he can fit the mold of noise, IDM, experimental, a bit of glitch, industrial, and all that jazz. So he’s under the umbrella of a lot of things that can be loved by the right person. That’s probably why I’ve a few of halicon’s cassettes sitting in my physical collection.
Anyway, news is that halicon has announced his album / EP or whatever you wanna call it (length is album styled but tracking is EP styled). Unfortunately this is an album where analog machines were abused in order to make it so if Skynet were to eventually ever takeover halicon might be the first put into the human camps. Tim Krug, founder of the project, has a bit of a description as to how he put it all together on his Bandcamp page but I’m not the one to translate that jargon. If you’re a nerd for that stuff you can read it there.
Relocation Spells is out on June 20th, 2025 and is available in both digital and cassette formats.
