I feel as if the dark and underground scene has two camps: those who claim that pop music is nothing but ridiculous music for the masses and those that understand that Goth and pop music is more familiar than one might think. I’m in the second campa and so is modern goth act BRIDES who proudly describes his music as apocalypse-pop.
Quite recently he announced his brand new album Sandcastle and though this might conjure mental images of fun times at the beach I doubt that this is what BRIDES had in mind when writing this album. And if he did this is the most depressive way to think about the beach. BRIDES has been candid in his explanation of Sandcastle describing it as “an album that explore the ephemeral nature of all things, ranging from vast empires, personal relationships and states of being.”
Available for pre-order now, the seven track album is being released in multiple formats both independently and through a record label. The digital version, cassette, and a limited amount of vinyl are available via Brides’s Bandcamp. CDs are also available only to US consumers. On the other hand Portland, Oregon based record label Violet Hour Transmissions also have the album available for pre-order in both limited edition Vinyl and Cassette formats. The digital album is also available here but shouldn’t be purchased as they’ve listed it at a ludicrous price to drive more traffic to BRIDES’ personal Bandcamp page. It’s a bit messy and convoluted but HEY. It’s out there. Check it out below.
