0110 Releases Darksynth Cover of Tears for Fears’ ‘Shout’

Hot off the heels of their well-received album “S*cker Punch”, 0110 is keeping the goodies rolling with a cover of one of the best songs of all time. We’re talking about the legendary single ‘Shout’ by Tears for Fears.

Now, if you know me (or have ever bothered to read through one of my rants on Facebook) you know that covers aren’t my thing. I have a strict rule that if you can’t either come close to the original song in terms of enjoyment and production then you shouldn’t release it publicly. It’s a bit disgraceful. It’s a sham. It’s a horrible moment in an otherwise brilliant universe. But I’m gonna go ahead and say that 0110’s version of ‘Shout’ is pretty brilliant.

Rather than sticking with the heavy, in-your-face dance synths that the original is known for, 0110 quiets it down and gives us a pretty lax, stripped down darksynth version. Neon lit skyscrapers at night are envisioned whilst listening to this song; a retro-visionary aesthetic that can’t be beat. Attached as vocalist for the cover is synthesizer enthusiast Navel4eve who smashes it. Contained and smooth. There’s room on the cover for a few electronic riffs and there’s even an extended version if the original running time just isn’t enough for you.

Either way it’s a cover that’s actually worth a look at. And it’s available for free on Bandcamp, too. There’s nothing stopping you. Not even me. Go on, now. Get.
