Derision Cult, ya know the industrial metal band that released and subsequently sold out of their own hot sauce, have released their new single ‘Radiation Blues’. Tagging along for the ride is Reeves Gabrels on guitar, known for his work with David Bowie and The Cure. The single can be described as a mix of thrash inspired riffs, hellbent industrial palettes, and the marriage of Tom Waits and Ministry.
While the music has a mainstay the lyrics also take on a topic that more and more artists seem to be tackling: information overload in a digital world. Where everywhere we turn there’s a new ad, a new statement, a commercial to buy something; it all gets overwhelming and tiring after a while. Frontman Dave McAnally gives a growling vocal performance discussing these issues and how short-form communication effects the soul. To round out the single, Sean Payne of Glitch Mode Recordings / Cyanotic hops on board for some final production touches.
‘Radiation Blues’ comes off of Derision Cult’s forthcoming album “Mercenary Notes Pt. 2”, which is due out on March 14th, 2025. Expect industrial, thrash, blues, and…Country? Uh-oh. The industrial scene might be in for a shock.
