iVardensphere - I Dream in Noise: Remixes Vol. 2

Generally speaking, remix only collections tend to be a bit of a mixed bag. You most often find several remixes of the same 3 or 4 tracks that tend to be paint by numbers executions of the original with very little thought put into them interspersed with one or two standouts which manage to reinterpret the original into something completely different. The average listener may find the overall product mildly interesting whilst DJs tend to collect them like mad looking for possible gems.
This latest offering from iVardensphere successfully manages to avoid this trend with some standout remixes by the likes of Alter Der Ruine, Ad.Ver.Sary, DYM and Comaduster. Each of the aforementioned projects takes the original and reintroduces it with a sound far removed from the original. For these tracks alone this release is worth the purchase.
The remaining remixes overall tend to be quite strong with standouts by BlakOPZ, Distorted Memory, Caustic, Phosgore and Encephalon to name a few. But there are a few duds on here that sadly add nothing new to the sonic pallet but this seems to be something that can't be avoided with remixes in any genre.
Overall, this release does have some great works to offer to both DJs in search of that extra track to add to their arsenal and to casual listeners as well. Dedicated fans of iVardensphere will enjoy it as well. Jul 22 2012
