Hallows - I Am Destroyed
With a little over a month to go before A Quieter Life is officially released, Hallows once again enter into the shadowy realms of the post gloaming armed with cold electronics and post punk weaponry. The new single, "I Am Destroyed" is yet another testament to the triumphant return of L.A's Hallows.
Like the previous single "Talk To Me", "I Am Destroyed" is another well done video packed with plenty of mind drifting imagery to ponder. "Talk To Me" explored a cry for attention through destructive behavior, where "I Am Destroyed" explores the fact we are only a blip, a very tiny blip in the social construct of time. Make the most of your time here and have fun regardless of what others may think. "I Am Destroyed" injects a dose of levity into an otherwise important statement that will certainly send that message in a way only Hallows could tell. The video will speak for itself.
This single showcases Dom's vocals taking the forefront, backed with plenty of synth wizardry, transitions and tempo spikes. There is even a place for ceremonial daggers, bananas, wine, apples and the National Enquirer. "I Am Destroyed" filters a healthy blend of dark wave & post punk yielding another track that entertains to the darker sides of sound. Dom's vocal approach is a steady stream of deep monotone literature encapsulating a diverse and inclusive vibe set in the lyrics and paired with the thought-provoking imagery, which certainly moves "I Am Destroyed" forward in a way that makes the track seem to end too soon. I desperately wanted the sound to continue, but it is only a single. Soon the time will be upon us to consume the full stories awaiting in the complete album. We will have to endure the liminal period between the singles and the release of the entire album as a whole. It's tough place to be when anticipation gnaws at your very inner cravings. August is near, but I wish it was a bit closer!

Another brilliant single attached to A Quieter Life making this one of the most anticipated releases of the summer. The vinyl and cassette are pre-ordered on my end. Click here to unlock the worlds of Hallows!
