Pina Bausch Industrial Rap CT Twenty Underground and industrial influenced rap duo CT Twenty is back with their brand new double-single "Pina Bausch". Skipping introductions (you can find that in our review of their debut, "Action Man") I'll be jumping right into their antics on this release.Pina Bausch by CT TwentyThe title track hits first and I was led right into a industrial-techno like rhythm. It's not long until CT Twenty comes in with their UK-accented rhymes; soft words with fast paced lyrics, I was once again enamored with their work. A minor complaint about the song is that the chorus is very repetitious; it repeats four times. Each stanza contains the same four lines repeated four times in a row. While it definitely doesn't sound bad, hearing it that many times in a row got a bit annoying. This issue with the chorus continues into 'Round There', but at least the final line in each grouping differed slightly. That being said, the rest of the lyrics are terrific and CT Twenty nails the instrumental sections once again. Darker electro hits on the song with tremendous implementations of bass music. There are plenty of times on the album where experimental efforts are used to maximum effort. Two moments I recall are when static noise breaks through the chorus, gapping it in between the lyrics. There's also a point towards the end of the track where CT Twenty transfers themselves into a sci-fi world, allowing their vocals to become robotically distorted. These effects pay homage to their industrial background while giving the song refreshers. My thoughts on this release are well documented above and the only minor complaint I have about the songs are the repetitious chorus sections. Nonetheless, CT Twenty has delivered two wonderful industrial hip-hop tracks that continue their dive into experimental zones. Seven out of ten! This review was commissioned through our Ko-fi page. 450

I've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
