Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti EBM, New Wave Borghesia Borghesia is a famous electronic group hailing from Ljubljana, Slovenia. Members Aldo Ivancic and Dario Seraval were known for their theatre group FV-112/15 that pushed the boundaries on taboo subject matter though imagery and other mediums. After releasing two cassettes, Borghesia was ready to release their first LP in 1985 titled 'Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti' which translates to 'Love Is Colder Than Death'. After many years of obscurity, Dark Entries Records resurrected the lost classic 'Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti' LP. The reissue stayed true to the original with red vinyl and a large fold out poster cover. The first edition of the reissue is hand-numbered and limited to 1000 copies. The mastering is done by Dark Entries regular, George Horn. The music on 'Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti' can be summed up as a nice mix of Borghesia styled electronic body music mixed in with some funk and industrial sounds reminiscent of early Cabaret Voltaire, Front 242 and even a little bit of Hula. The entire LP flows from track to track with solid beats, crafty bass-lines complimented by lyrics sung in Croatian. "On" is one of the best tracks by Borghesia. Your ears are rewarded with a soothing synth with torturous screams gently placed in the background. "Brisk Vomit" brings in the funk while "Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti I" and "Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti II" showcase some the sampling techniques Borghesia used throughout the LP. The samples are usually taken from film and radio. After 'Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti' LP, Borghesia went on to release several titles including: 'No Hope No Fear' and the amazing 'Escorts And Models' LP. In 1995 the group released 'Pro Choice' and then all was quiet on the Borghesia front until the 2009's '20th Century-Selected Works' compilation was released followed by Dark Entries' 'Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti' LP in 2010 and 2012's reissue of the 1984 cassette on vinyl "Clones". In addition to the reissues, a new album is planned for late 2013 on Metropolis Records. This reissue could be the equivalent of the world losing a classic book and finding it nearly 30 years later. Remember the film The Book Of Eli? Well, perhaps not that extreme, but what a way to experience a classic for the first time or hear it again in its remastered version. Although 'Ljubav Je Hladnija Od Smrti' LP is reissued on vinyl, you can legally obtain it digitally though iTunes. Grab a piece of history and lose yourself in the music. 550
