Electro / darkwave duo Cyanbaal have announced that their fourth, full-length album “Dark Reflections” will be released on December 17th, 2021. Released via darkSIGN Records, the twelve-track album is described as a revision of the past mixed with the life of new, enriched songs. Dark and ominous creatures alongside fairytale-like stories riddle the album. The haunting lyrics are sung side-by-side with sterile percussions, driving beats, and mysterious messages colliding with cringing smiles. The album has been mixed and mastered by Arnte of Pyrroline and contains cover art made by Tino of Verstaerker. “Dark Reflections” will be available in both limited edition CD and digital formats. Cyanbaal has also released a music video for the song 'Black Neon Life', which comes off the album. You can stream it below:

Speaking on the album, Cyanbaal had this to say:

We work with the mood and flow at the time of creation of each song. We don’t restrict ourselves to certain sounds or lyrical content. We allow the exploration of our creativity. The best of our songs often come from an impulsive idea. Then the listener is provided with diversity and not so much a single concept. A general theme on the album is that everything dark has light.

Cyanbaal is a darkwave and electro project that was found by Patrick M. Georg Kasperski. New Wave, New Romantic, EBM, and Darkwave are just a few of the influences found within the project’s arsenal, while they hail legends such as OMD, Ultravox, Visage, Skinny Puppy, FLA, Die Form, Front 242, Clan of Xymox, among others. They often find their fanbase circling within the coldwave, post-industrial, and darkwave genres among modern popular acts such as Dead Lights, Slow Danse with the Dead, and SYZYGYX.

Patrick began his music career in the early-to-mid 90s. While he took many breaks throughout his career, he was always creating in his personal studio. Cyanbaal was found in 2014 and shortly released its debut EP “Madame Degradation” in 2015. Cyanbaal went on to release the “Repulsive Theatre” EP, and the albums “Living Tunnel” and “Life Without Exit” in 2017, early-2019, and mid-2019 respectively. During this time period, Cyanbaal also worked with Zattna Uhm on a side project.

Haether Wayward has been a huge fan of the dark music scene for decades. In recent history, she contributed samples to others artists’ work. At the encouragement of Kasperski, Wayward joined Cyanbaal in 2020 as a singer and a songwriter. This new chapter in her life has brought much joy and satisfaction in her life.

Patrick is responsible for all the music on the project, composing most of the songs and contributing vocals. Haether Wayward took up a major role on the project’s most recent album “Dark Reflecitons”, writing a few songs and singing on a few others. Patrick has stated that she “arranges songs that are among the particularly outstanding tracks.”

“Dark Reflections” is a dark album containing fairytale-like storytelling with ominous lyrics. It marks the second collaboration between Kasperski and Wayward, with many more to come.

Cyanbaal has started looking forward to the future, with both European and US dates being scheduled. Both Haether and Patrick have also been prepping a new album that they wish to work on after their scheduled gigs in 2022.

I've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
