Sometimes I find it funny when a well-known act within the dark electronic underground swings by the site to fill out a stock questionnaire that I created a bit back. But then again, in the grand scheme of things, the industrial scene is quite small and nuanced and there’s always the chance that someone within the scene (and a huge chance that someone outside of it) has never heard of the act before. That’s exactly how I felt when Frontal Boundary decided to fill out and send forth the INTRODUCING questionnaire. Get to know a little bit about the aggrotech loving trio in today’s edition of INTRODUCING.
Give us a brief about your band. Who are you and what do you do?
We’re just a group of guys who love hard, melodic, danceable aggressive electronic music. We formed in 2008, and now consist of Krz Greenhaw (Vox), Brendin Ross (Keys) and Jaysen Craves (Keys). We focus on bringing intensity with emotion in the music but also try to keep it danceable.
When did you first launch the project and how has it come along since?
Frontal Boundary was originally founded by Brendin Ross in 2002, rooted in Dark Electro, synth-pop textures, and emotional expression. In 2019, Krz joined as vocalist and we released The Fall, marking a new chapter for the project. In 2023, we signed with Re:mission Entertainment and welcomed Jaysen Craves on synths. After releasing several singles, we dropped the album Shutting Down in 2024. In 2025, we collaborated with Unter Null on the single “Hollow.” That same year, we signed with Alfa Matrix and released our newest album, Failure.
What bands and artists influenced you the most and why?
So many great bands and artists out there! We are all quite different in that field. Brendin is a sucker for the Cure, Jaysen the love for Ministry and Skinny Puppy, and Krz over here listening to artists like The Browning and Weeknd. Regardless of who those artists are we all find that common ground of being pushed and pulled by the music… feeding us ideas and urges to create together.
If you could pick a single song from your discography to explain your music, which song would you pick and why?
This is a hard question. There are quite a few songs that resonate with us, however, at this time, I think the song would be “Reset” off the new album. It deals with confronting doubt and reaching a breaking point where the only option left is to start over. It’s emotional, but it hits hard.
What is your most recent release and what is it about?
“Failure” is our newest LP through Alfa Matrix. It is about the collapse of relationships, mental states, belief systems and rebuilding from ruin. “Hate” and “Faith” are two extremes that define that emotional difference. The songs span from inner turmoil to external rage. The human experience.
Take us through your creative process. How do you compose a song from start to finish? Where do the ideas come from?
We usually start with a simple pattern, and we all start molding that into a song. Brendin and I (Krz) tend to bounce ideas off each other back and forth until we have a full-length song… Once we decide this is a song we like, vocals are added and then the final touches go to Jaysen! Our ideas come from everything we deal with daily. All the emotions and experiences…Sometimes they aren’t that deep, and we could be skipping down the street and get a tune in our head. But you get the point.
What’s your current favorite song, band, or album within your scene? And vice versa, what do you enjoy the most that’s completely opposite of what you make?
There are so many strong acts right now. Bands like The Russian White, Fact Pattern, Contracult Collective, Divider, Protokoll 19, and Mortal Realm are doing incredible work. There’s a strong sense of community, and we all push each other in positive ways. On the opposite end of the spectrum? We’ll blast The Weeknd, Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, and all kinds of ’90s hits. Sometimes you just need a full dance party.
What is on the horizon for your project? Upcoming gigs, tours, merch, videos, etc. Name it, link it, show it off.
