When not busy creating tunes for his project Vercetti Technicolor, Gianni Vercetti is working hard at co-running his much loved label Giallo Disco Records. Having such a grand taste for all things horror in the 70s/80s, I asked him to give out his five favorite horror films, and that he has. Read on to find out this man's top picks:

"Mystics In Bali" by H. Tjut Djalil

"A 1981 Indonesian horror film directed by H. Tjut Djalil with Gatot Sudarto providing an obscure and dark soundtrack. Gritty basslines, mysterious synths, murky atmospheres. Not up there with Elsio Mancuso & Berto Pisano’s 'Le Notti Del Terrore' but a great one for sure."

"Zombi 3" by Lucio Fulci and Bruno Mattei

"Spooky synth-led pulses and themes from Stefano Mainetti. An absolute gem. Also, there's some big hair 80s metal stuff in there I admit I like!"

"Tenebre" by Dario Argento

"A Goblin work. Enough said."

"Starry Eyes" by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer

"Jonathan Snipes' works fit the movie like a glove. Haunting nursery school melodies and epic synthworks. From tense to calm themes this record is a piece of genius."

"Maniac" by Franck Khalfoun

"I really like this remake. It's not Jay Chattaway but ROB mixes epic orchestral stuff with heavily synthesized grooves and creates a new classic. I've started countless sets with 'Dolls'."

I've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
