In the late nineties the solo industrial act Testube created by Jeff Danos had the world coming to him and more. He released a couple of EBM albums via UEF Records, put out a self-released album "Bioplaza" that was critically acclaimed, and even landed a spot on DSBP Records roster. He even had a remix album "Reconstructive Surgery" climb to the number four spot on the CMJ RPM charts alongside the likes of Juno Reactor, Thievery Corporation, and Carl Cox. A plethora of reviews and acclaim followed in the wake of his releases, but then the project somewhat died out. After the glitchy IDM / industrial album "Corporation" released in 2003, it took Testube five years to get back in the game and release the "Covert" EP and "Off Purpose" album on his own record label.

Silence followed after due to a move to live off-grid. With his wife in the Ozark mountains in a small cabin with no electricity or running water, making electronic music was nearly impossible. He recharged his laptop in the town's library when he could, but that left him only a couple of hours to make more music. Only a few singles and an EP came out of these recording sessions and after six years of off-grid living, Jeff had enough. 2019 was the year the family got electricity back. With that said, Testube is back in full force and has finally been able to scratch that creative itch. The result is the seventeen-track album "Backwater" which you can stream directly below.

"Backwater" will be released on all major digital streaming platforms including Bandcamp. The album will also be released in a limited-edition cassette format with handmade, hydro-dipped cases. You can pre-order a copy HERE.

I've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
