Dark synths, neofolk instruments, and ancient ideologies all come together in an alchemical creation with Hem Netjer. The project was initially formed by Raven Rissy and David Deckard. Rissy, inspired by her university studies as an Egyptologist, art historian, and archaeologist, came up with the name Hem Netjer. Translated, it means "a god's servant" or priest. She plays a variety of instruments such as the Rotta Lyre and percussion. David, on the other hand, comes from a background in Computer Programming. He has taught himself to play electronic music using only hand gestures instead of a synthesizer. Their final bandmate, Jesse Elytt, joined the project in early 2020 after being impressed with early demos; his throat singing adds a new element to the project.

Hem Netjer has otherwise been hard at work mastering their craft, and they are ready to show the world what they're capable of in 2022. With their upcoming album "The Song Of Trees" coming soon, Hem Netjer is proud to present the first single off the album 'Void'. Shot by Joey Chaos, recorded at Jacknife Sound with Jason Corbett (Actors), and produced by Scott Fox of iVardensphere, this is not something you want to miss.

This album incorporates tracks that represent interpretations of the five elements, earth, air, fire, water and void. Our goal with Void was to create a trance-like atmosphere that speaks to the idea of darkness and self-reflection. To look within yourself and acknowledge those sides we often try to suppress and accept them as a part of ourselves. -Raven Rissy

Hem Netjer has also announced that their first live performance will be in July of 2022 at Terminus Festival, Canada's largest dark music festival. It will be hosted by Dickens Pub in Alberta. They will also be performing at Verboden Festival in May of 2022 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Hem Netjer also has an EP that released in December of 2020 out on all major streaming platforms including Bandcamp, with three videos available on YouTube.

I've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
