With the pandemic that raged dutifully throughout 2020 and 2021, many artists sought to use the time to dive back into their creative pursuits. While some crafted brand-new material, others looked back to previous, unfinished products. Experimental and IDM producer Halicon (Tim Krug of Hexadiode) was one such producer whose electronic experiments began in the early 2000s and prior. Digging through hard drives, cassette tapes, floppy disks, and zip disks, he slowly recovered and tinkered with tons of songs to release a series of EPs from those sessions.

His first release, "back_up", launched originally in May of 2002 but was given new life when it was re-released in digital formats. Krug loved the idea so much that he continued his crusade to uncover his long-forgotten children. From these sessions five EPs were born, including "Synaptic Peripherals", "Reticulation", "Vacan Splines", "Vello Rinse", and "Loner Veils". Never one to be satiated, however, Halicon has moved on to create glitchy, sublime visuals for these songs. The third of these videos has just been released, and I am more than proud to premiere it. Check it out directly below:

'Climpendor' was a late discovery on a misplaced hard drive, or it likely would have been on "Vacant Splines". I thought I was done with these archival releases, but rediscovering this track was really the catalyst that led to compiling Loner Veils. It really feels to me both care-free and a little melancholy, and I really enjoy the dichotomy of it. -Tim Krug

'Climpendor" comes off of Halicon's latest collection of rebooted songs titled "Loner Veils". It was originally released in an extremely limited-edition, five cassette, 3D printed box set but quickly sold out. That being said, the digital editions as well as the regular cassette are still available for purchase. You can grab your copy HERE.

I've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
