Bites 05.20.26: I Ya Toyah, Krate, Slighter, and more.

Neo Dimes Releases Debut Album Alone
Just a bit ago we did a quick little Introducing article with up-and-coming modern industrial artist Neo Dimes. And now look how far we’ve come; a few months later and his debut album is here. Alone echoes the frustrations that many are feeling in a time where technology is battling AI and the world seems to be coming to a close. Neo Dimes has stated that the album comes from a personal place, saying: I recently lost a career right as my daughter came into the world—a world where she has fewer rights than her mother did and where tyranny is creeping into every facet of life. We’re addicted to technology in our pockets that both opens us to the world and consumes us entirely. It’s omnipresent and inescapable, and I’m pissed off.

Krate and Slighter join forces for In an Age of Breaking Signals
In their press release for this EP, Krate and Slighter stated that this just isn’t a two-track release. And their basic arithmetic is correct as three songs is more than two, and they did, in fact, release two tracks on this collaboration. Shenanigans aside, this is a pretty powerful release; the cinematic electronics of Slighter meet the industrial grit of Krate in one hell of a collision. It’s finished off with a remix from Dogtablet as well, so you’ll be hounding over this. Check it out.

I Ya Toyah Releases Music Video for Feelings
Polish powerhouse I Ya Toyah is one of those rare acts that’s consistently consistent; I don’t think there’s been a bad release from the artist that I’ve heard so far. Feelings is another addition to that consistency that I’ve come to know and love from the artist. The song is a criticism on the modern trend of selfishness, performative outrage, and manipulation. More of a multi-media project now than ever before, you can stream the single below.

C.M. Samuels Releases Solo EBM EP After Selection
You may know C.M. Samuels from the post-punk band Ritual Howls or even the dark ambient outing Mission to the Sun, but I don’t. In fact I don’t think I can remember a mention of C.M. Samuels though I guarantee he’s probably come across my metaphorical desk at one point or another. You know what I’m probably going to remember this man by from this point forward, though? His solo EBM EP After Selection. A huge love letter to the Detroit music scene he grew up and around, the EP is a sonic representation of the city.

Cold Spring Reissues Trepaneringsritualen’s Perfection & Permanence
Lotta people whose panties get soaked to the sound of death industrial are gonna have waterfalls as revered label Cold Spring have reissued Trepaneringsritualen’s critically acclaimed album Perfection & Permanence. That’s reason enough to celebrate, but there’s reasons more to celebrate as I’ve finally managed to spell Trepaneringsritualen without having to look at the artist’s name for reference before typing. Two birds, one stone. Vinyl and shirt bundles galore.

Nightcrawler Releases Love Letter to Classic Cinema with Cult Revisions Vol. 1
Darksynth artist Nightcrawler is tapping into his love for classic cinematic masterpieces and the scores that defined them in his new EP Cult Revisions Vol. 1. The album reimagines themes from movies from the likes of Scarface, The Exorcist, Blade Runner and more and makes them more Nightcrawler-y. The digital EP is available for purchase and streaming now.

Travis Bacon releases Industrial / Blues Crossover Single K.E.N.
Maybe this dude is taking a queue from Raymond Watts of PIG, or maybe he recently heard The Black Cheetahs and their take on bluesy industrial doom rock, whatever the case I think this dude is going to go somewhere at some point. Combining industrial and blues is his flavor and his name is Travis Bacon (relationship to Kevin Bacon unknown and unasked). The music video is produced through his company Slashtag Cinema which allows him to blend his love of horror and movies making this a multi-media production. You can check out the video below.

Alex Gonzalez (MATTE BLVCK) and John Kunkel (The New Division) create UNTER STRØM
You know if a couple of dudes get together, use a German name for their electronic project, and that put said name in ALL CAPS that it’s going to be serious…Or underwhelming with you questioning why you wasted your time in the first place. Fret not, fellow electronic lovers, as two producers mentioned above have gathered hands to create a fusion of techno, melodic house, and industrial tinges to create UNTER STRØM. This has led to the release of their first single Orynth which can be streamed below.

Editor-in-Chief. Been writing for this site since 2012. Worked my way up to the top now I can't be stopped. I love industrial and dark electronic music which is why I'm so critical of it.
