When you think of the phrase pretty in pink you think of the 80s comedy film regarding high school social cliques and romance and all that jazz. But I think now that Patriarchy has released their single New Way whenever I hear the phrase Pretty in Pink I’m gonna think of the pink themed cover art only filtered by a polarizing guitar.
A lot of people want to talk about brat girl summer and I think it’s just landed with Patriarchy. This single comes directly after their European tour that saw the rising electronic act sharing the stage with the likes of Peaches, Sextile, Marie Davidson, and Martin Rev. For the single they once again teamed up with producer Twin Shadow to create a self-described “filthy fun dance floor banger with big guitars in the spirit of Rammstein or KMFDM.” And I think that’s just happened.
New Way is the second single off the band’s forthcoming third album Manual for Dying which will be out in September 2025 and is coincidentally one of my most anticipated albums of 2025. The collaboration with Twin Shadow isn’t over yet, either, as both parties worked on seven tracks together. More fun on the way and a few more shows to conquer.
