EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE: Vlimmer Explores A Relationship Strained in 'Makks'
Depending on which year of Vlimmer you decide to check out, you might be listening to a different project each time. An evolution, one would say, from his roots in 2015’s EP “I” and “II”. Simple numbers gave way for titles in which he explored floatier designs; ambient, some shoegaze, but dipped in a darkwave and goth sauce. Later iterations of Vlimmer would see him tinker with other sounds including post-punk, coldwave, industrial, and even tribal machinations. But his most recent works are stepping away from his heavily 80s influenced roots.
While there’s still an argument to be made that Vlimmer’s music is influenced by the 80s, he’s attempting to bring a contemporary element to the tried-and-true sound like so many others. He’s largely successful in this endeavor as he shows on his brand-new single ‘Makks’. Coming off of his forthcoming album “Zerschöpfung” which is due out soon, Vlimmer describes the song as “the end of a once very close relationship of two people that, due to distance and life choices, brings them apart more and more without hope for betterment.” Something, I think, we can all relate to. You can stream it right below.
“Zerschöpfung” will release on August 25th and I would keep an ear out for it when it drops. This is but a glimpse, and it’s a pretty tasty morsel. The entire suite might just be grand.

info@brutalresonance.comI've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
