MΛLLEVS MΛLΞFIC▲RVM Witch House V▲LH▲LL + M‡яc▲ll▲ Another split EP from M‡яc▲ll▲ + V▲LH▲LL, the self-described "witchfolk" and "bloodwave" acts. While WitchHouse isn't usually my cup of tea and quite frankly, I haven't even heard of the genre until fairly recently; I find V▲LH▲LL to be pretty damn awesome; M‡яc▲ll▲ as well. I enjoyed the album GħØsŧs of ΛnŧįquįŧҰ, M‡яc▲ll▲ + V▲LH▲LL's last double EP together, and I liked †FIR3 with the rapper Zeeks... But what about this? Well, first of the EP's title attracts me; It's the same name a song by one of my favorite bands of all time, AFI. Ok, that really didn't matter... Onto the music, I'm splitting this review into two separate reviews and then condensing it into a final review! M‡яc▲ll▲ first. Of the six songs from M‡яc▲ll▲, I'm really feeling "MVRDEЯESS" for its classic Velvet Acid Christ vibe and because, well, of all of their tracks on this EP, its the best in my opinion. A second choice for the best of M‡яc▲ll▲ would have to be "Ĵεannε d' Λrç", its really freaking good and could tie for the best on the album but, alas, M‡яc▲ll▲ seems a little less stand out than their EP mate, V▲LH▲LL. V▲LH▲LL seems to outshine M‡яc▲ll▲ on this EP; But, don't get me wrong, M‡яc▲ll▲ is freaking awesome and worth listening to. Okay, now onto V▲LH▲LL. V▲LH▲LL really took the cake on this EP and sounds better than they did back in GħØsŧs of ΛnŧįquįŧҰ. There's a lot of good and there's a bit of strange, but if you're listening to WitchHouse I'd think that you would welcome the strange like an old friend. Let's start with the good; "RΣ▲PING TIMΣ FIN▲LLY" is an my favorite track, but "PΣNT▲GR▲MΦPHΦNΣ [DARK SKIES]" is a close second with its beautifully haunting orchestra-esque sound. There's not a bad track from V▲LH▲LL on this EP! There is a weird track but it's still well done, none-the-less. "SNΦW ▲NGΣLS" is so beautiful, so well composed, yet so freaking weird at the same time to the point that I cannot take it entirely serious. In short, this EP kicks ass for WitchHouse. It got my attention and I'd listen to it again; Though I wouldn't play it in a DJ set, it's definitely still pretty good in my opinion... Not goosebumps inducing (At least for me) but worth checking out if you enjoy the genre or are in the mood to discover something new. Stand-out tracks for the whole EP are: "Ĵεannε d' Λrç", "RΣ▲PING TIMΣ FIN▲LLY", and "PΣNT▲GR▲MΦPHΦNΣ [DARK SKIES]". 450
