The Relic - Mind Battle Part III: Shattered Heroes
Better watch out, because this dude is the label boss of Dark.Descent! But if i didn't like it it wouldn't have reviewed it, and this is a great EP. As usual with Dutch industrial it is extremely violent harsch, but very dancable material, much like good old Converter on steriods and amphetamine.
The EP opens with the titletrack which opens with a sample from some rapture movie after which the onslaught starts. Really freaky track which will go down well with the rhythmnic noise crew. Second track "Mankind" does remind me a lot of Mono No Aware or Winterkalte with heavier beats. "Anti Particle" is an exercise in combining acid with industrial noise. A weird experimental track which will induce much pain on the dancefloor.
Highlight of the EP is "Humanoid" which is a fast doublebeat track with very panicky sounds. This one will make any noise party go crazy. Final track "Godspeed" is crossbreed mixed with acid, and thats a bit to fast and breaky for my taste, but all in all we have another extremely good EP from my own country, and thats always nice.
Some people abroad say the Dutch are blunt and direct in their approach, and while that might be true, thats certainly the case with the music. If you like it hard, blunt and in your face, get yer thang in the lowlands! Dec 17 2012
