The Fair Attempts - Lotus Head

This review was commissioned. However, it bears no weight on the score or decision. All reviews are written from an unbiased standpoint.
The Fair Attempts, the industrial rock / synthpop project created by Friendly Timo, has released yet another gas-mask fetishizing single teasing his forthcoming and soon-to-be-released album "Lotus Head". The single in question is the title track off the album and continues to carry on the dystopian themes prevalent in his previously released singles such as 'Dark Star', 'Tides Are Turning', and 'A Perfect Machine'.
'Lotus Head' is a pretty fun and danceable industrial rock track. EBM basslines run through the track making it toe-tap worthy. The verse is filled with interesting bits of sci-fi beeps and ominous synths. I do think the track winds down a bit during the chorus, however, as the guitar riffs there sound generic for the genre. Not bad, though, just a bit generic. Friendly Timo also opts in for some gutteral cries for his vocals which fits the energy of the song.
The question remains: how many more surprises does the future hold for The Fair Attempts? We've had a gargantuan taste of the album "Lotus Head" so far with an astonishing six singles released to date. With so much out in the world, it's a matter of time before we discover if The Fair Attempts has enough gas to keep things fresh, or if they're running on empty.

info@brutalresonance.comI've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
