Say Just Words - The Shadow Of The Chaos
Say Just Words a band from Chile with a clashing sound that reminds me a bit of Hocico combined with Dawn of Ashes but with its own little twist.
Pumping beats combined with melodies and strings that really give you a bit of a creepy feeling, almost like a horror movie and then you combine it with vocals with a lot of effects and there you have Say Just Words. 'The Shadow Of The Chaos' is his debut album which they have been kind enough to release for free, which I think is really great and shows that they prefer giving fans something rather than taking their money. Don't misunderstand me, artist should get paid for their work otherwise we wouldn't have any music to listen to, either way it's a nice gesture.
You get 7 tracks and 5 remixes made by some more famous and some less famous bands. The album starts with the track "Agony" (well, actually it starts with a intro but still) which is a real club track with a part that consist of some very powerful strings that really gripped med and overall the track is a real solid one, but I would like some higher volume of the vocals.
Then you have the track "No Away Out" which I think should be called "No Way Out" but that isn't important, this is a bit slower than the first track but it has a very powerful lead melody that brings the track forward and in this one we get some more nice strings that adds atmosphere to the track.
'The Shadow Of The Chaos' is a very solid album apart from the fact that the vocals are a bit too low and the mastering is somehow a bit inconsistent, yet its good for a free release and for a debut album. I would prefer maybe 2 tracks more and maybe 2 remixes less but it's a personal opinion as always.
This album reminds me a bit of a German band called ES23 which is also a great band. You should check it out if you like this artist. Jun 07 2010
