Lovers Revenge - Betrayed
Lovers Revenge gives us a two track super limited edition of 50 copies cassette release on Vocoder Tapes. This is a great new label the warrants some more attention. One reason to check out this label (and there are many others) is Lovers Revenge. They play a style of darkwave electronic music that summons thoughts of depression, revenge, loneliness, betrayal and misery.
Speaking of betrayal, the title track is called "Betrayed". It is as dark in sound as it is in the lyrics. The track is slow with a low pitched male vocalist singing about a relationship that has taken a dark turn. As the song progresses, an antagonistic female voice articulates her transgressions in a way that demonstrates hate or perhaps even revenge.
"The Revenge" is the B side of the release. It is an intricate synth-driven instrumental dirge into the dark world that Lovers Revenge created or even worse... lived through.
I wish there were more tracks to allow us to dive a bit deeper into what Lovers Revenge has to offer. This is a teaser for sure. Hopefully a full-length in the works. You can check out the two tracks on Bandcamp or immediately go to Vocoder's site to order the tape which may or may not be sold out. Mar 19 2013
