Slighter Announces Brand-New Album "This Futile Engine", Lead Single 'Have No Fear' out now
Dark electronic maestro Slighter has announced that his brand-new album "This Futile Engine [Deluxe Edition]" will be released via Brutal Resonance Records on July 21st, 2023. Known for his intense cinematic productions, Slighter partnered with us last year with his "Riot City" EP, an incredibly cheesy retro-futuristic album taking influence from cyberpunk and science fiction alike. This is nothing like its predecessor except that founder Colin C.'s incredible production skills are on deck. "This Futile Engine" is a proper follow-up to Slighter's self-released, 2021 album "V O I D", echoing a far more matured and nuanced production design. As Slighter, Cameron experiments with his voice far more in songs such as 'Have No Fear', the lead single which had its premiere via Amplify Music Magazine and is currently available for download on Slighter's personal Bandcamp.
"This Futile Engine" is a complete work of art from start to finish featuring a who's who of the widespread dark electronic scene. Steven Seibold of Hate Dept roars on 'Memory Corruptor' as the ever ethereal Morgue VVitch provides an atmospheric touch; a bit of the ol'beauty and the beast. Yvette Winkler of Vaselyne provides gothic charm on 'Dark Divine' while Craig Joseph Huxtable of Landscape Body Machine takes the lead vocals on 'Pulling Me Under'. Lastly, Deep Dark Water provides an almost ambient-like backing to 'Ūnitās'. This is all crunched between original songs and rhythms from Slighter himself making it one of his most definitive albums to date. You can stream / pre-order the album below, and you can listen to it in full when it launches on July 21st, 2023.
"This Futile Engine [Deluxe Edition]" comes with two additional bonus songs that shan't be available on any other streaming platforms other than Bandcamp, those being two dark dub mixes of 'Pulling Me Under' and 'Have No Fear'. "This Futile Engine [Deluxe Edition]" will be released in both digital and limited edition signed, Jewel Case CD formats. A limited edition bundle is also available containing Slighter's 2022 EP "Riot City", the classic black and white Slighter Logo Tee, and the signed CD of "This Futile Engine".

info@brutalresonance.comI've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
