Finnish cyberpunk project Kizunaut has released their brand new single, ‘Hunter’s Moon’. The industrial-influenced take on dark synthwave is largely inspired by Halloween and takes inspiration from Perturbator’s recent exploits as well as the powerhouse that is Irving Force. The single has garnered praise from Forged in Neon who said that, “The Finnish maestro gets creative” and “delivers that one-two punch you expect from decent Cyberpunk tracks.” ‘Hunter’s Moon’ is available on Bandcamp as a digital download. It can be streamed / purchased directly below.

Speaking on the single, founder Oskari Lappalainen had this to say:

I've wanted to do a Halloween song for a good while now, and ‘Hunter's Moon’ is that. Halloween isn't really celebrated in Finland but there are some similar local traditions and it's definitely a remarkable transitional time to the harsh winter here. I think the song kind of operates on two levels. One is kind of a horror video game level playing to all the potential sinister implications of the term Hunter's Moon. You can listen to it and imagine being hunted by whatever lurks out there during this dark season and get catharsis and thrills that way.  The other level is to think of it in the terms of what Hunter's Moon originally was: the last possible time to stock up for the coming winter, us humans being the hunters, hunting whatever possible to catch in the light of the especially bright October full moon. It's a powerful, defiant song; there is an element of triumph against adversity to it. You won't be the one who will be hunted down this October, and you will survive the winter.

Oskari Lappalainen began his musical journey in 2008 after discovering alternative electronic music. Before starting Kizunaut in 2017 he was involved in several music projects where he experimented with different styles and developed his skills. Citing influences such as Nine Inch Nails, Covenant, Perturbator, Carpenter Brut, and Irving Force, under Kizunaut Lappalainen has been hard at work crafting his own dark synthwave and cyberpunk style. Though Kizunaut has only been around for a few years, he has already managed to score a slot at the Helsinki Synth City Festival in 2019. Kizunaut is currently working on an EP that is set to release in early 2022 that’s influenced by industrial rock and oldschool EBM while still retaining his synthwave originality.

I've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
