Hello Dupont! How are you?
- "Hi we are during the circumstances ok. Riccardo broke his arm during a skate board accident last week but should be recovered in a few weeks. We are currently preparing for a trip to France and Germany to promote the new album."
For those who haven't heard of you, please enlighten us a bit!
- "We are a duo, playing and performing electronic music, kind of a dark electro pop outfit. Riccardo is on vocals and synthesizers together with Danucci on machines."
You are about to release your third album called 'Entering the ice age', tell us a bit more about it!
-"When we listen to it, it strikes us that it isn't particularly influenced by anything. Of course you can hear reminiscences of our earlier recordings in it, it feels like it can truly stand on its own musicality."
The title suggests we are going into colder days when the climate changes are doing the opposite, what does the title mean?
- "The title is meant to inspire into more existential thoughts, perhaps."
You have chosen to re-record one of your most early tracks 'Behave', but this time without Johan Damm, how come you re-release it?
- "Firstly it hasn't ever been featured on an album before, so we wanted it do be on one. Secondly we wanted to refresh the sound so it was up to date."
Many of the tracks all glimmer in the sound of Dupont, but some tracks are a bit different sounding than what we are used to, is Dupont merging towards a new sound or did it just happen?
- "May sound strange, but it's a coincidence if they do. We do very seldom put our sound of choice into a historical context, then again; we like to explore new ideas as well. I think the album pays homage to the Dupont sound of yore as well."
You are recently signed to Progress Productions, are you happy with your new label?
- "Very happy so far. It's a no-bullshit policy company with dedicated people surrounding it."
Your earlier releases were on Life Is Painful Records, whatever happened to them?
- "Life is Painful Records has a great back catalogue, but I think the management has switched focus a bit."
Will there be any release party or live performance with the release?
- "Yes, there will be several release parties in Germany, as well as showcase shows in Frankfurt and Leipzig featuring Dupont, at the time of the release."
Any last words to our readers?
- "Thank you for taking your time reading about us. We hope to meet you on one of our concerts! We guarantee that we will have a pleasant time together."
