The weather is getting colder out there and the leaves are starting to decay and all life on Earth is preparing for a long due hibernation. That can only mean one thing: Fall is upon us. The brisk, sweet open air and cold nights perfect for big sweaters and family moments by the fireplace has arisen. But that hasn't stopped us from getting the Brutality. Let's play catch-up, shall we?

WE'RE HOSTING A HALLOWEEN CONTEST.

In the most important bit of news, we're hosting a brand new Halloween Contest for all you dark electronic musicians out there! All you have to do is share the original article on your social media network (click the hyperlink presented earlier), submit your track to info@brutalresonance.com in high quality .wav format along with a screenshot of your shared post, and you must submit the track by the end of October 20th.

The winner of the contest will receive an exclusive stream of their track as a featured headline on our website on October 31st, an interview will be conducted with the musician based around all things horror/Halloween, and will also receive a $50 cash prize transferred via PayPal.

So, go create some music and submit your track!

NEWS AND FEATURES.

We kicked things off pretty well this week with an exclusive pre-release stream of Nigen's debut EP "Monachopsis". The EP is a crossover of EDM and industrial and is available digitally via Blind Mice Productions. Cynical Existence has released a brand new forty-second new album teaser of their upcoming album via Advoxya Records, and it showcases a combination of dirty dark electro and some more melancholic tunes.

A brand new industrial metal band from Russia Gottwut has released a new single 'Oil'. It's not bad and has a B-side track attached to it, so go check that out. The last bit of news comes from the electro/synthpop record label Conzoom who has announced their latest compilation "electropop.11". It contains some new and old names in the electropop field and has an additional bonus track this time around.

REVIEWS.

We had a plethora of great albums to check out this week with the best of the best being Rave the Reqviem's The Gospel of Nil scoring a great 9 out of 10. The album did everything their debut did even better, and with the help of additional producer BL4KJ4K AKA Seraphim System, the album soared to new heights. This is not an album to miss out on if you love industrial metal.

Empathy Test struck with a new two-track EP Demons / Seeing Stars teasing their next album, scoring an 8 out of 10. Junksista's new sexy, sassy EP Sinners Delight managed to dominate me into giving it a good 7.5 out of 10 while The Rain Within's synthpop/wave blend Dark Drive scored just as well. Black Heart's debut album featured some lovely vocals and good tunes, garnering a 7 out of 10 this time around.

Perhaps what is the lowest score I've given out in ages would have to be 16 Volt's new album The Negative Space. While I praise them for attempting to evolve and do something new, the overall soft rock with a bit of a rough edge album put them in a generic pool of other rock bands which made them score a disappointing 3 out of 10.

But, now that I've gotten through everything from this past week, it's time for me to say goodbye until next time!

I've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
