When Like What first got in touch with Brutal for their previous single 'Dark is the Night' I was a bit shocked. Prior to even reading up on the song, I listened to it and found it to be a pretty good darkwave single. What hit me in the head, however, was the fact that Like What was only using an iPad and a guitar to record their music - while sounding better than a lot of other independent electronic musicians. Like What, then, has managed to peak my curiosity as I have been wanting to hear more from them ever since our last encounter. And, well, that time has come!

Like What has recently released a brand new single and music video titled 'Drowning In Your Eyes'. There is quite an improvement from their previous outing; there's an understanding of song structure and melody. One of my major complaints from their last single was the fact that their vocals lacked tone, imitating current darkwave trends. 'Drowning In Your Eyes' fixes that and Like What's vocals sound more handsome than ever, following the flow of the music. Either way, you can watch the romantic, black and white music video for 'Drowning In Your Eyes' directly below:

'Drowning In Your Eyes' is part of Like What's debut EP "Avant-Garde" which was released on May 20th, 2021. The EP contains seven songs in total including the previously released singles 'All Alone', 'Tired (Of Missing You)', and 'Dark is the Night'. You can grab it on Bandcamp as well as other major digital media outlets.

I've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
