Zaliva-D - Chemical Climax

I love the Chinese Underground. Not content with bringing us the Darkest and most eerie of Eastern Ambience, TIC Records (a small subsidiary of Dying Art) brings us the debut release by Zaliva-D.

How many of you are into BDSM? Or S&M? For Zaliva-D's initial offering is laced with it, in theme, concept, imagery. Gas Mask and Rubber lovers, rejoice! Also worth mentioning (and correct me if I'm wrong) that I think Zaliva-D features Li Chao (of Enemite, Harrfluss, Evilthorn, Anti XXX). If so, expect a good release.

The session opens with "Psycho Zonar". A fantastic start to an album. Dark Electronic Pulses, overlapped with Eastern ambience, and this once again echoes the sheer terror of the Eastern scene. Fitting the theme perfectly, It's like being in a Medical Ward with a rubber clad nurse breathing smoke into your mask. The pulses are fantastic. Hard Electro, but in tempo with the beeps of a Life Support machine. Did I mention the female voice samples?

Award for song title of the year goes to "Zadistic Pump". Another eerie piece, much more up-tempo, and to be honest, what man hasn't wanted to be totally helpless and tortured by hot Chinese women in Leather Masks? No points for naming one such reviewer! On a serious note, this is totally unique, original, and fascinating Eastern Industrial. When the first two tracks don't put a foot wrong, you know what to do.

Yes! "Dominant" does what I wanted. Chinese samples of a woman shouting, followed by whipping noises, and begging from a Male Slave. I want to play! This makes a wonderful intro, before the track goes into pure Noise-based territory. I once saw a video on Youtube of a Chinese woman holding a guys mouth open and hooking a nice big spitball into it. I bet she's on this record.

The best thing about this album is that it goes from Industrial, to Techno, to Ambient...all your favourite things rolled into one, while people get brutally tortured. Apparently there's a music video too. Contact me if you find it. Basically, if you like Electronica, Noise, Masturbation, Sexual Deviancy, and feelings of Dismay, get this album. I defy you not to listen to it without lowering one hand.

Obscure album of the year? Yes. Sexually Fulfilling? Yes. Hot Chinese women available for hire to fuck with your mind? Sadly, No. Two out of Three isn't bad though. Dec 01 2006
