Thornsectide - Queen
Thornsectide might not be a name you are all too familiar with at all, and if you are, then you are one of the few who have had the delight of hearing their name. They are a two person band hailing from Moscow, Russia who produce dark electro/aggrotech music. Currently signed to Insane Records, the duo has joined their ranks alongside such renown acts such as Psyborg Corp. and Sleetgrout. Right now they've only released a single titled "Queen", which comes attached with three different remixes.
'Queen' itself is a down and dirty aggrotech track through and through. It blends itself with trance very nicely, and though the vocals are pretty standard for the genre, I still found myself enjoying them quite well. Sin.thetic Squad is able to create a much more touching version of the song, even if the mix allows the beat to overpower the vocals. The synth work in the remix is a work of love. Sticking with the four on the floor kick, Aim & Execute's remix was also synth led but had a variety of digital touches and effects that made the song quirky and fun. Lastly, Freaky Mind's Dark Breakbeat Version of the song was the most different, altering the song into a cyber futuristic rave song which was glorious.
Now, it might be too soon to say that Thornsectide will come out with better material in the future, but from what they're showing off with "Queen", I think it's fair to say you should at least keep their name in the back of your mind. They're not too shabby with this release, and the remix work available is stellar.

info@brutalresonance.comI've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
