Proem Electro Scout Detroit native now residing in the musically abundant city of LA, Scout is a DJ and nightlife enthusiast who has made more than one dancefloor feel the rhythm. Her latest EP Proem was released back in November of 2016 and while I have only seen it make small ripples throughout the electronic scene, I'm hoping those small touches move on to become entire waves. Proem is a small, isolated two track EP that's very well produced and clean cut down to the bone. 'i' starts off the EP and whether or not Scout realizes it she made an electronic track that reminisces neon lit dystopias and cyberpunk aesthetic based like that of Blade Runner. The percussion pads are suave and upbeat while the backing synths swept me back to the 80s sci-fi universes. 'i' is simply an epic, cinematic synth lovers dream. The second track on the EP 'ii' hails a slower pace to it, dragging out the electronics and brought me more into the modern day. Muffled samples, moments of recluse, and well paced rhythms made this song a keeper. While Scout's music may not be as dark or have the measured ferocity of the music I normally cover on this website, she certainly has a well rounded taste in music and it shows in this small EP. I would love to see more of what she could do with the seemingly 80s inspired sound she accumulated in 'i', but even the modern tones in 'ii' were nothing to complain about. Synth lovers should hail this EP and get a small dose of what Scout has to offer.  450

I've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
