((Pressures)) - Casting Shadows
From the coldest dark corners somewhere in New Orleans, a small dose of analog delights waits to be unleashed. The time is now, a secret that can no longer remain secret comes to us from the Disko Obscura label under the name (PRESSURES)).
The release is called 'Casting Shadows' and it is a very limited edition cassette of 200 copies.
The first track is called "Casting Shadows". It is defined by its chilling analog synths that bring a dark vibe while lowering the body temperature to a steady drum beat. The vocal style reminds me a little bit of Bakterielle Infektion but a little more melodic.
The next track is an instrumental "Vanishing", and again showcases a steady beat accompanied a strong atmospheric synth pieces that seduces your senses into a trance perfect for a dark room and a cigarette.
"Bizarre Times" is the strongest track on the release. The effects give the vocals a distant feel. The music is very uptempo and addictive.
The final track is "Abnormal". The same effects on the vocals as "Bizarre Times" are present here. The music slows down a bit and gives way to distant chilling synth pieces layered into the composition.
For all the new music that is out there we sometimes miss out on a really cool release. The market is saturated with social media pushing the way for musical exposure. It can be frustrating sifting through all the rubbish before you find a gem. This gem is a must have for any fan of the minimal wave. The tape will sell out and soon late comers will flock to Discogs searching for the original release. There is a lot promise here for great music in the future. It will be interesting to see where ((PRESSURES)) goes from here. You have been warned! Jan 29 2013
