Re:Breathe Re:Spark Electrorock, Synthpop MiXE1 MiXE1's "Re:Breathe Re:Spark" is an album of remixes of their tracks 'Breathe' and 'Spark in the air'. While its easy for the casual listener to overlook a remix album, I am here to say that sometimes remixes can make you get to know or even enjoy a track you have once passed by. As a DJ, I am constantly sieving through remixes, and as tedious as it can get sometimes it is a labor of love. Now onto track one, 'Breathe (Kokyuu Remix)', a creepy and atmospheric remix. An amazing start. I cannot describe this track without urging you to listen. Though the original track is good, this remix makes it all the better. LISTEN and 'Breathe'. See what I did there? Haha 'Spark In The Air (Cease2Xist Remix)', track two, kind of reminds me of Dope Stars, Inc. in the style its been done. Another solid remix. Track three, 'Breathe (Psy'Aviah Remix)', is very DJ friendly. Full of future and synthpop sounds, and the in my opinion, beautiful lyrics of 'Breathe'. this remix is definitely something that you would like to hear on a dancefloor. Track four, 'Spark In The Air (Digital Creationist Remix)', is a mechanized and distorted version of the original, combining noise elements and hard, stompy industrial beats to overtake the song. 'Breathe (Smothered Remix)', track number five, is something you would expect to hear from Chevelle. YES, I WENT THERE. But, it?s a really amazing remix. Its less electronic, more rock, but still holds the framework of its original. I'd put it on my iPod in a heartbeat. Track six, 'Spark In The Air (Waste Of A Spark Remix)', completely tears apart and distorts the song. Its rhythmic and crunchy, yet smooth to take in and process. Not quite something I'd expect to hear on the dancefloor, but none the less a great remix. 'Breathe (Pop Remix)', track number seven, remixed by Machine Rox! This remix has potential to be spun by a synthpop / futurepop DJ. Another good take on an already amazing song. At this point though, I don?t think you can do a bad remix of 'Breathe'. Track number eight, 'Spark In The Air (Flesh Eating Foundation Remix)', might just be the best remix of 'Spark In The Air' on the compilation. Dancefloor friendly, catchy, and standing out saying 'PLAY ME OVER AND OVER!' Complete with a wobbly synthline and rhythmic drums. 'Breathe (Asphyxiation Remix)', track nine, is stompy and ready to be dropped onto a dancefloor near you. Definitely not my favorite remix of the song but still something I'd LOVE to hear on the dancefloor. I'd play it out for sure. I wish the lyrics were more prevalent but sometimes a remix must change and omit thing s to stand out and that?s exactly what happened here; A totally new take on 'Breathe' that doesn't sound like the others. 'A Spark In The Air (One Dollar Christ Remix)', the tenth and final track, is glitch and very mechanized. The synths used here are experimental yet fitting. Once you feel at home with one way the song is going it changes up on you. Creative and beautiful in its own way. The bottom line: THERE IS NOT ONE BAD REMIX ON THIS COMPILATION! I may favor 'Breathe' over 'Spark In The Air', but I can assure you they are both unique and amazing tracks. This compilation has a remix that suits almost every taste! From dancefloor ready oontz to chill beats to sit and vibe out to, you will find something that suits your fancy. BUT PLEASE CHECK OUT THE ORIGINAL TRACKS AND SEE FOR YOURSELF THE TRANSFORMATION THAT HAS TAKEN PLACE. FUN FACT: MiXE1 (pronounced Mikes 1 ) By the way!!!
