Cherry Red Announces 4-CD Set, "Close to the Noise Floor"
The London-based independent label Cherry Red Records announced on June 6th that it will soon release Close to the Noise Floor, a four-CD retrospective compilation of formative U.K. electronic music. The compilation focuses on the period between 1975 and 1984, and features over 50 tracks selected in conjunction with the artists, including proto-synthpop, ambient, noise, drone, and musique concrète. The set will also contain photos, artist recollections, technical specs, and an essay by Dave Henderson. With some artists and tracks yet to be confirmed, the line-up currently includes:
